Matthew Ralfe

Innovation & Change Manager, Nottingham City Council

Matt leads on major change projects within Parking and Transport Services at Nottingham City Council. As well as business-as-usual revenue generation and cost reduction projects, Matt also leads on a current programme of grant-funded transport projects worth over £7 million, Workplace Parking Levy consultancy and the Fleet Electrification programme.

Over the last six years, the number of EVs in Nottingham’s fleet has grown from 2 to 243; 51% of the fleet is now EV and this includes major UK firsts such as fully electric cage tippers, sweepers, minibuses, the first OEM refuse collection vehicles and construction of a ULEV-only workshop.

Matt and his team are now focused on encouraging wider adoption of EVs by creating a charging network for public sector fleets across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire; pushing the boundaries of EVs with roof mounted solar, battery refurbishment and autonomous vehicles; and encouraging active travel and sustainable mobility through mobility hubs.
